Product SpecificationsTOKO dye is a high-concentration, water-based leather dye made in Japan that delivers vivid, rich color with exceptional dyeability and deep penetration. This is a water-based dye with the same strong performance as alcohol-based dyes. This versatile dye works beautifully on the grain side, flesh side, and even leather edges.
With three to four times the concentration of standard water-based dyes, TOKO dye provides deep, even color in just one coat, no need for multiple layers. If a lighter shade is desired, it can be easily diluted with water.
Another key to its smooth, even coloring is its fast absorption. The carefully balanced formula of high-quality organic acid and solvent prevents repelling and allows the dye to soak in quickly and uniformly.
Thanks to premium water-soluble colorants, this dye also offers excellent fade resistance, making it a reliable choice for long-lasting, professional results.
TOKO dye is available in 19 colors, each perfectly matched to our 19 colors of MBT waxed thread.
Among these 19 colors, three shades of black are available:
Black – A balanced tone between bluish black and reddish black.
Midnight Green – A bluish black shade.
Onyx – A reddish black shade.

Tips: Lightly spraying or dampening the leather surface before dyeing helps achieve more even, consistent coloring.
